A Busy Mom’s Lifesaver: Chef’s Plate Meal-Kit Delivery

I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again. My biggest wish would be to have my own personal chef. Sure, a cleaner would be nice, a driver would be cool too but a chef would be my ultimate indulgence.

Lucky for me (and you!) a new meal-kit delivery service called Chef’s Plate has just expanded to Ontario, Alberta, BC and Manitoba. This service is seriously going to change my life.

The last thing I want to stress out about after a busy work day is “what’s for dinner”. With Chef’s Plate, you place an order online and complete meals are delivered to your house in an insulated box. The package comes with all the fresh ingredients you need to make a balanced meal for your family and the recipe (so you can potentially make it again).

I honestly think this is brilliant.

  • All meals are created by Chef’s Plate culinary team + guest chefs
  • New recipes are introduced every week

  • Meal-kits are delivered to your doorstep in a refrigerated box

We received a one week trial of Chef’s Plate and the entire family loved it. Our meals were Chicken Penne and Stuffed Red Peppers with Rice and Beef.

I was very impressed by how the meals were organized in my box. Meals were in separate bags so it was clear what you needed for each meal. The meat was at the bottom of the box on ice packs. The produce was super fresh. None of my veggies had bumps or looked wilted.

Cooking Time

I found the recipes very easy to follow. The recipe card is clear and has photos for every step. This is extremely helpful.

Our Meals

One of the things I really enjoyed about Chef’s Plate is that some of the recipes had ingredients that we had never served to our kids before. I really enjoyed introducing them to new foods and was happy to see how they responded. The entire family agreed that the stuffed peppers was our favourite meal out of the two we received during our trial week. It had lots of flavour. My kids thought it was fun to eat a meal out of a pepper!

Another thing we noticed and were impressed with was the fact that we had leftovers after making both meals. I wasn’t expecting this at all. My kids are still quite young and don’t have huge appetites. I really enjoyed having leftovers for lunch the next day and felt that this made the family of 4 meal-kit more appealing. If I was to make a Chef’s Plate meal on a work night I would be guaranteed a lunch for the next day.

How to Order

The Chef’s Plate website is very easy to use. All ingredients for weekly meals are outlined and clear. Ordering or pausing your order is also very easy to do. The two person meal plan is $10.95 per serving, the family meal plan is $9.75 per serving. This cost includes FREE shipping.

Overall

Chef’s Plate is the closest thing I’ll ever have to a personal chef. I’m so excited about this service and know I’ll be using it a lot especially when school starts up again in a few weeks.

  1. I really love the concept, I’m at the point I don’t know what to cook anymore, especially since I had to remove beef from my diet.

  2. This looks great! I have heard and read a lot about Chef’s Plate lately and I may utilize them this September to make “back to school” season a bit easier.

    1. I’m doing the same thing in September. The entire month is a bit of a blur… Chef’s Plate will help with dinners at least!

  3. sounds like a great idea , wish it was available in my area , would be awesome ! looks so yummy 🙂

  4. This looks like a great idea and it is neat that there are new recipes introduced each week. Couldn’t afford it all the time as others have mentioned and I will have to investigate dealing with food intolerances.

    1. It’s not for everyone but definitely a good option from time to time. For us, this is a cheaper option then going to the restaurant and our kids prefer to eat at our house.

  5. Chef’s Plate sounds great! It would definitely be less stressful to have all the ingredients ready to make a healthy and balanced meal. Thanks for the info.

  6. The food definitely looks fresh and when it’s cooked it looks delicious. The other thing I love is the meats are antibiotic and hormone free and everything is local. I don’t think I could afford to eat like this other than a special occasion. It’s just too expensive and I’m not sure if there’d be enough food for us. I do believe this would be great for people who have long hours or don’t like shopping.

    1. I agree, I don’t think I could afford to order every week also. I like that you can pause your subscription and if you know you have a very busy week ahead you can order then.
