Don’t Miss These 7 Things on the Norwegian Escape

My family recently cruised on the Norwegian Escape. It was our first cruise and we loved it.

I already wrote about what the kids loved about the ship, now it’s time for what we adults loved.

1 >

The Ropes Course. My friend and I did the ropes course on an at sea day. The line up was long but it was super fun. We especially liked the zip line sections. My husband and friends did the course on a port day and had a very short wait time. Everyone thought it was a must do.

Waterslides. Yes, both kids and adults loved both the ropes course and the waterslides. I stuck to the tube slide and thought it was super fun. (The clear tube over the ocean was awesome). My friends did the Aqua Loop waterslide and loved it. I was way too chicken to try it – maybe next time?

The mojitos at Sugarcane. This was my drink of choice during the cruise. The Raspberry Guava Mojito was my favourite. It was such a perfect drink. We tried almost all the mojitos on the menu and were pleased with all of them. Make sure you check what freebies are available when you book your cruise. We had the Unlimited Open Bar Package and loved it. We could enjoy drinks from any bar and always had a glass of wine with dinner.

The shows. For the Record: The Brat Pack was on stage while we cruised. This show was spectacular. The actors were so talented. The story was funny and the songs were great. I honestly wished I had seen it twice. Book your show tickets early when planning to go on the Escape to reserve your seats. If the show is sold out there is always a standby line the night of the show. Our show was sold out but still had empty seats when it started.

Vibe beach club. This is an adults only area. You must buy a bracelet to get up to Vibe and bracelets are only sold once you’re on the ship (they were sold at Headliner’s when we boarded the ship). Tickets sell within minutes so you’ll want to check in very early and be one of the first groups when they begin boarding.

Vibe was fabulous. My husband and I got to sneak off to Vibe when the kids were at Splash Academy. There are cushioned chairs, umbrellas, private bathrooms, a mister area and your own bar within Vibe. Fresh fruit and cookies were often served by the Vibe staff. I really enjoyed my kid-free time at Vibe. I loved the bartenders – try the Miami Vice when you’re there.

Specialty Dining. We did not have a dining package but did enjoy one meal at Cagney’s Steakhouse. We had the most beautiful table looking over the ocean. Our meal at Cagney’s was our best meal during the entire 7 days. Everything from the wine, the appetizers, entrees, and desserts was perfect. It is an added cost to experience the specialty dinning restaurants but I truly think it changes your cruise experience.

I plan on having more meals in the specialty restaurants during our next cruise.

Our balcony. We had a family balcony room during our cruise. It only cost us a little bit more than a non-balcony room but we were so grateful that we reserved this room. It was so nice to have a place to relax outside when you needed a break from the crowds.

I also really liked being able to observe us docking when we arrived at Tortola, St.Thomas and Nassau.

We kept our patio door open every night. We loved hearing the ocean waves as we slept.

To be honest, there were countless things that I loved about our cruise. The 7 things mentioned here are just a small example of what we loved. The Norwegian Escape is a gorgeous ship. It has something for everyone.

Our first cruise was very memorable. I look forward to doing it again soon!

  1. Looks like so much fun! I think cruises are a great vacation option for families with smaller children. We plan on going to Alaska this year with the boys (they are older).

  4. We’ve never cruised on Norwegian, but after seeing all this fun, I’m thinking Norwegian is next! The ropes course sounds like fun. I’d probably be the only one in the family to do it, though. More fun for me!

  5. I can’t get over how massive this cruise ship is, pretty ingenious that a thing that huge and heavy can stay afloat and then it moves too. People are clever beings indeed. 🙂

  6. My husband and I keep talking about a cruise. This looks absolutely amazing- more than a vacation, an adventure!

  7. I can’t wait to go on another cruise! They are a blast! We have SOO much fun whenever we go! I have to try this cruise line! I have never tried them!
