Caught on Camera: Elf on the Shelf

2013 was the first year we did “Elf on the Shelf” in our house. I had heard about the elf before but never jumped on the bandwagon. This year, I dug out an elf ornament I purchased about 10 years ago. We watched the “Elf on the Shelf” movie and quickly learnt that after you name your elf he gets his magic. We named our elf Jingles. The fun began that night.

Our elf was pretty well behaved. The kids ADORED searching for him every morning. The best part of the whole experience was last night, his last night flying to the North Pole to see Santa.

My husband and daughter decided to capture how Jingles leaves every night. My daughter figured she knew what door he used so together they set up a trap to photograph him in action.

Here are the shots we got.

My children were amazed this morning when they saw how Jingles actually flew out of the house. My family loved the Elf on the Shelf experience and we can’t wait to do it again next year!

Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas!

  1. Pretty amazing stuff. I don’t buy into it myself but my eldest hardly understands who Santa is so maybe in future. Love the photo journal!
