One Day at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom #DisneyVacayCA

You may have already read part one of my Walt Disney World trip report. On our first day, we park hopped between Epcot and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

It was a great day BUT the kids were tired. We ended the day way earlier than I wanted.

Day two was reserved solely for the Magic Kingdom. Trust me when I say I was giddy when I woke up in the morning. I LOVE the Magic Kingdom. I visited with my family as a child and have so many fond memories of this park. I couldn’t wait to visit with my own kids.

Arriving at Disney's Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom Happiness

We were all well rested and ready to get on some fun rides on our second day at Walt Disney World.

Our visit to the Magic Kingdom was during Spring Break. I was quite concerned that we would experience huge line ups. I was prepared with 3 Fast Passes for the rides we wanted to do the most: Tomorrowland Raceway, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and the 7D Mine Train. The Fast Passes were well spread out during the day so there was plenty of time to get to each attraction.

Rides During our Day:

  • People Mover
  • Astro Orbiter (twice)
  • Tomorrowland Raceway (twice: one with Fast Pass, one without)
  • The Barnstormer
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Fast Pass)
  • The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
  • The Jungle Cruise
  • It’s a Small World
  • 7D Mine Train (Fast Pass)

The Spring Break crowd was surprisingly fine. Sure, there were some waits but it wasn’t terrible. I honestly feel that we got a lot done for our one day. We would have had the chance to go on other rides (I wanted to go on Peter Pan’s Flight soooooo bad, but my kids didn’t want to go with me) but we were really happy with all the rides we experienced.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom

I could write an entire post about the scavenger hunt type game at the Magic Kingdom called Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.  It is a really cool game and my daughter was instantly obsessed with it.

We only learned about it because we saw other kids playing it. After asking some questions we found out what this game was. My daughter soon informed me that she HAD to play it.

We headed back to the main entrance of the Magic Kingdom where you need to sign up to play the game. (You’ll find the starting point at the fire house when you enter the Magic Kingdom).

At the fire hall, each player receives 5 cards, a map and instructions on how to play the game. Your mission in this game is to defeat evildoers that are trying to take over the Magic Kingdom. By using spell cards at special portals throughout the Magic Kingdom you can stop the forces of evil. Once you fight 9 sorcerers you are awarded more cards.

This game is clever and perfect for tweens who like to problem solve. My daughter had a great time finding the portals. She also adores all her spell cards and will be cherishing them forever.

Nighttime Entertainment

We were so busy running around the Magic Kingdom that we did not see any parades during our one day.

I did make a point to stay for the fireworks at the end of the night. The Magic Kingdom presents an amazing fireworks show every night. We absolutely love how Tinker Bell flies over the crowd in the beginning of the show.

The show that blew my mind was after the fireworks show. The new Once Upon a Time presentation on Cinderella’s Castle was incredible. We didn’t know anything about this show and only stayed because the crowd was huge after the fireworks show. I was blown away by Once Upon a Time.

The music, images and short movie clips that light up the castle were incredible. If you are heading to the Magic Kingdom soon make a plan to stay for this show. It is not to be missed.

Overall

Our day at the Magic Kingdom was very special. Every member of the family had a major highlight during their day. We enjoyed walking around the park, going on amazing rides and eating Mickey Mouse Ice Cream.

The Magic Kingdom is much larger than Disneyland but is just as fabulous. I loved every moment of our day at the Magic Kingdom and truly hope we’ll be visiting again soon.
