Hotel Review: The Sheraton La Jolla in San Diego

My best friend and I just returned from a wonderful holiday in San Diego. For this trip we decided to stay at the Sheraton La Jolla. We did a lot of research before deciding on staying at the Sheraton. This hotel had everything we needed and more.

About the Sheraton La Jolla

The Sheraton La Jolla is only 13.2 miles from the San Diego International Airport (it cost us just over $10 with Uber Car Pool from the airport). It is located just minutes from the beach town of La Jolla.

This hotel serves many business travelers and families getting their children set up at the nearby UC San Diego.

The hotel is made up of four main buildings. The tallest building is only three stories high. All four buildings form a courtyard and surround the medium sized inground pool and hot tub. The property is beautiful. There is some artificial grass in some areas but there are also beautiful gardens and large green spaces. I really appreciated the birds of paradise flowers on the grounds and the numerous palm trees.

My friend and I used the pool on two occasions. The pool area was extremely clean and quiet. Towels were available at the pool and there were always long chairs available.

The hotel has a restaurant and bar on site. We enjoyed breakfast at Humphrey’s one morning and were very happy with our meal.

There is also a fitness facility available for all guests.

The Rooms

We stayed in a beautiful Junior Suite situated in the Club Tower. Our room was very spacious. It had a large bedroom with two queen beds, a large bathroom, a kitchenette area with a microwave and mini fridge and a full living room. There were two large flat screen TVs in the room. One in the bedroom and one in the living room. The first thing I thought of when I stepped into this room was how perfect it would be for a family of four or more.

There are other room types available at this hotel. You can reserve traditional or deluxe guestrooms. You can also reserve executive guestrooms and suites on the club floor.

Special Perks

The add-on that I highly recommend when booking your room at the Sheraton La Jolla is to upgrade to Sheraton Club. Upgrading will give you 24 hour access to the private Club Lounge. The Club Lounge serves breakfast in the morning and hors d’oeuvres and beverages in the evening.

My friend and I really appreciated the light breakfast offered every morning and loved talking with Rhonda who was the concierge on duty while we frequented the lounge. Rhonda was full of information for us and so kind.

What’s Nearby

The location of this hotel is great. It is close to downtown San Diego. The Westfield UTC shopping mall is nearby and the town of La Jolla and the beach is only a five minute drive away. The hotel also has a quick path to get you to the Whole Foods and CVS pharmacy (these stores are steps away). My friend and I returned to Whole Foods on several occasions. We loved their cafeteria area with hot pizza and salad bar.

How to Book

There are many ways to book a stay at the Sheraton La Jolla. I highly recommend booking on Expedia.ca. Booking hotel rooms, flights and activities on Expedia.ca is very easy to do and you are charged in Canadian dollars. Expedia.ca also has a Best Price Guarantee so you know you are getting the best deal.

I would highly recommend the Sheraton La Jolla when traveling to the San Diego area. The hotel was well maintained, all the staff was friendly, the pool area was clean and the rooms were well appointed and quiet. I would absolutely stay at this hotel with my family next time we go to San Diego.

  1. The rooms look great. I love when rooms come with a microwave. I am dreaming of a warm vacation each day as it gets cooler here in Ontario.

  2. Sounds like you had a wonderful time, everything looks so amazing and I love those rooms, very roomy!! I loved the part where you could walk to Whole Foods and CVS pharmacy, you don’t hear of that to often!

  3. I need this kind of vacation right now. We have all been so ill for much of September. It’s been brutal. Anyways this looks gorgeous. I will pin for later when we are looking at California another time. The rooms look lovely and clean. I have been to California once but that was for a conference and didn’t really count much as far as travel goes. I didn’t see much then.

  4. I’ve never been to California, but have always wanted to! Love the photos of the Sheraton you shared. I am all about a hotel that offers a kitchen area so that I can bring/buy foods to have there rather than eating out all the time! Looks like a great spot for a girls getaway!
