Five Family Activities to do in Whistler this Holiday Season #FamilyTravel #LittleThingsWhistler

My family and I just returned from Whistler, BC for a ski holiday.

Our time there was so fun, snowy and special. The holiday lights in Whistler village look amazing. The entire town feels like a Christmas village.

The holidays are a great time to visit Whistler. Of course you can ski and snowboard everyday but you can also do so many fun family activities.

Here’s a list of top family activities to do in Whistler this holiday season.

1. Skating at Whistler Olympic Plaza

Skating in the Olympic Plaza is one of my family’s favourite things to do in Whistler. The skating rink is open from 11am – 9pm everyday. The rink is closed for ice cleaning twice a day from 2pm – 3pm and 5:30pm – 6:30pm. If you don’t have skates you can rent them on site for a small fee.

2. Sledding at Whistler Olympic Plaza

When we first walked through the village my kids spotted a HUGE mountain of snow on the grounds of the Whistler Olympic Plaza. Fun toboggan runs and tunnels have been built for kids to enjoy. I absolutely loved this set up and hadn’t seen it the year before. Sadly, it started raining on our last day so my kids didn’t get to enjoy the toboggan runs. If you head to the village make sure you bring your sled!

3. Dress Like Santa Day

This is such a fun day on Whistler and Blackcomb mountain. Dress like Santa to ski on December 19th. The first 100 Santas to arrive at the Garibaldi Lift Company, at the base of Whistler Mountain get a FREE lift ticket for the day. Seeing hundreds of Santas skiing and boarding all day long is so much fun.

4. Fire and Ice Show

This is a FREE show that can’t be missed. Head to the skiers plaza in Whistler village every Sunday at 6:30pm and check out amazing ski and snowboard big air displays, fire spinners, live DJs and fireworks display. This show will entertain the entire family and inspire you.

5. Christmas Eve Carols

If you’re in Whistler on Christmas Eve head over to the Westin Resort and Spa to see Whistler Children’s Chorus and Whistler Singers perform traditional carols, choral music and readings by community members telling the story of the birth of Christ. This event is by donation at the door.

I’m secretly hoping to make it back to Whistler this winter. Trust me when I say it is a wonderful place for a family vacation. Whistler has something for everyone in the family.
