My family just returned from a fabulous trip to Whistler, BC.
On this trip we stayed in Creekside at Legends.
While there, we discovered that Whistler has so many great things to do as a family. Here are my top 5 recommendations:
1. Stroll through Whistler Village
Whistler village is a pedestrian friendly village that has so much to offer. Our typical afternoons consisted of walking through the village, stopping into a few shops, having some ice cream and eating dinner at one of the many great restaurants.
You’ll find lots of great stores including Lululemon, Quiksilver and Hatley. We loved the ice cream (and funny t-shirts) at Cows and eating at Mongolie Grill.
2. Go for a Bike Ride
Whistler has so many of bike trails. There are trails for families (that go by many great playgrounds and lakes) and more challenging bike trails for novice and professional riders.
Trail maps are available throughout Whistler and you will also see them posted on the trails themselves. The trails we rode on were well groomed, easy to follow and so much fun.
3. Spend some time at a playground
We discovered some great playgrounds while in Whistler. The playgrounds we loved were the Alpha Lake playground, the Meadow Park splash park was fabulous but the main playground is Whistler village is by far our favourite. We went to this playground everyday. Everytime we went to a playground my kids made new friends, they played and ran for hours. One afternoon we brought a lunch and ate at one of the picnic tables.
All playgrounds mentioned above have clean washrooms on site.
4. Ride the Peak 2 Peak
We decided to take the kids on the Peak 2 Peak one morning. This was the highlight of our trip. We started our adventure at the base of Whistler. We took the gondola up the mountain, enjoyed lunch at The Rendezvous then took the Peak 2 Peak to Blackcomb. Once on Blackcomb we took two chairlifts down to the village.
When you are on the mountain there are hiking trails and amazing views.
This was a wonderful experience for our children. They had never been in a gondola or chairlift before. On our way down from Blackcomb we even spotted a black bear!
5. Eat on the Mountain
While in Whistler we had lunch on the mountain. There are many dining options on Whistler and Blackcomb mountain. We had lunch at The Rendezvous. The views were spectacular. My kids loved watching the Whistler Gondola and seeing the snow on the top of the mountain.
During summer months Whistler offers dinners on the mountain top BBQs three nights per week. A full menu can be found on the Whistler website.
Dining on the mountain is quite the experience.
Whistler, BC has something for everyone. It’s a great destination for singles, couples and families. My family had such a wonderful time on our Whistler holiday. I look forward to taking my kids back to Whistler soon so we can do it all over again!
I would love to visit here again
