That’s it. We’re on our last week of summer holidays. I can’t believe my daughter will be stepping in a grade one classroom next week.
Over the summer I always like to keep my daughter’s mind sharp with lots of challenging activities. One thing that I like to do is have a few workbooks accessible for her to work on during the break. I was so happy to receive samples from DK Canada to challenge my daughter and my students this year!
DK Canada sent me two workbooks and one Multiplication book. My daughter was drawn to the workbook right away because it has a built in timer. How fun! The Math Made Easy – 10 Minutes a Day workbooks are filled with a variety of exercises. The timer counts up 10 minutes. A perfect amount of time for my six year old to work.
There is an introduction to each lesson and the pages are colourful and fun. Every lesson also has a time filler which are designed to give your child extra challenges and extend their skills. My daughter has really enjoyed working through her JK-1 book.
I also received Multiplication Made Fun for my classroom. I have seen that learning multiplication tables can be very challenging for students. I love the design of this book. To start off, the cover is brilliant! It has an owl that can be manipulated to show your child different times tables and their answer. This multiplication book is straight forward. It explains multiplication in many ways and has tips for grown-ups on every page. These tips offer suggestions for using multiplication in your everyday life. If your child is learning multiplication this year in school I highly recommend this book. It’s a great book to read and work through with your child. I really look forward to using this book with my students this year.
