I Dare you to Give Canada during the Dare2Give campaign #dareyou

As a teacher, giving back is part of my job description. I donate so much of my time to run teams at school, I often bake snacks for my students and always donate my children’s toys and books to my classroom and other classrooms in my school.

Giving back makes me feel good. It feels right.

When I give back to my school community it exposes kids to sports, clubs, books and games they wouldn’t usually have access to.

The best part about giving is that you don’t actually have to give A LOT. Every little bit counts.

Whether it’s donating your time, your baked goods or your children’s previously loved books and games – it counts and makes a difference. In fact, it makes Canada a better place. Reseach shows that one of the main reasons people decide to give is simply because someone asked and a great way to ask is to DARE!

The results of giving back is why I love the Dare2Give campaign on the My Giving Moment program on now. The Dare2Give campaign is an invitation from Rideau Hall Foundation and our Governor General to make a difference. It is asking Canadians to give and to dare their families and friends to do the same. Sounds easy enough right? By daring family and friends during the Dare2Give campaign you have the potential to make more of an impact in your community and in our country.

{Dare2Give Contest}

From now until December 14, 2014, every time you dare someone you have a chance to WIN for your favourite Canadian charity. The grand prize includes one TV Public Service Announcement from a leading Canadian broadcaster, and one radio Public Service Announcement from a second leading Canadian broadcaster. Each of these prizes will bring more attention to the charity of your choice. Contest ends December 14.

Now it’s my turn!

I dare my mom, Louise, to donate to a charity at the till next time she’s at the grocery store.

I dare my friend Andrea to donate some of her children’s previously loved books to a local school.

I dare my husband Neil to go teach an art class in my daughter’s classroom.

I urge you to check out the Dare2Give campaign on the My Giving Moment website. On the site you’ll see examples of some great dares, you’ll also get more information on where you can volunteer or donate.

I know we all want to make Canada a better place. What better way to do so then to encourage others to give a little.

More dares are being submitted to the Dare2Give campaign on the My Giving Moment website everyday. See below to enter the number of people you’ve dared!

I really want to hear what you’ll contribute and who you want to dare during the Dare2Give campaign.
