DIY: Make a Calendar for mom

This week I helped my students create a great, easy project for their moms. I know how much moms everywhere love pictures of their children. I also know that every busy mom needs a calendar. I went with that idea and created an easy craft for my students – a Mother’s Day calendar.

What you need:

  • A 4×6 picture
  • A 8.5×11 sheet of paper
  • A set of monthly calendar sheets
  • Scrapbook or fancy card stock (cut in fun shapes and strips)
  • Glue
  • A stapler

I found free printables of calendar sheets online, printed them out and shrunk them by about half. We started our calendars with the month of May and went until January.

I had the students collect all their calendar sheets, stapled them and had them glue the last page of the calendar on the sheet of paper.

I asked them to glue their picture above the calendar.

I then gave them a bunch of pre-cut pieces of scrapbook paper – I had circles, big squares, small squares and more. My students then decorated the remaining white paper with all the colourful shapes.

My students decided to fill in special dates on their calendars which was a nice added touch.

The end product looks fabulous! I’m so proud of their work. I think their moms are going to LOVE their new calendars.

I’m off to pin this idea onto my Mother’s Day board for you 🙂 And for me to remember this great idea.

    1. Thanks for the feedback! It turned out so great. Such an easy craft and a much more affordable version to the online calendar programs.
