For the second year in a row my family was treated to an amazing evening at the Fia Fia Luau at Marriot’s Ko Olina Beach Club on Oahu.
The Fia Fia Luau is headed by Chief Sielu. The chief and his family put on an amazing show. Fia Fia is funny, exciting and touching.
When arriving at the Fia Fia luau you are greeted by a performer. You either receive a flower or shell lei upon entering. The first stop is to take a photo with Chief Sielu and other performers from the show. You are then showed to your seat and you are encouraged to walk around and learn more about Polynesian culture. The kids get in line for complimentary Hawaiian tattoos and learn how to start a fire. There are also special tables with Hawaiian crafts and souvenirs for purchase.
After a bit of entertainment (which always welcomes audience participation) the Chief blesses our meal and two large line ups are formed for the buffet style dinner included in your luau experience.
The main buffet spread is very impressive. You’ll find poi (and be explained how to fully enjoy it) and other great main dishes including salads, island fish and kailua pork. The Fia Fia Luau also has a great keiki buffet with spaghetti, macaroni and peanut butter and jam sandwiches. Once you are done your main course you head over to the desert buffet for a selection of cakes and tea and coffee.
Each ticket includes two complimentary drinks. My husband and I enjoyed Mai Tais and our children loved the POG juice.
Once the sun sets the real show begins. From the very beginning you can see that this is a very special show. The dancing is amazing and costumes are striking. Every performer is extremely dedicated and really enjoys what they do. One of the highlights for me is the Blue Hawaii dance and the fireknife dancers at the end of the show. Three of the fire knife dancers are World Fireknife Champions.
The Fia Fia luau is a wonderful experience for the entire family. From the moment you arrive you feel special and you know you will have a good time. Everyone involved with the luau is kind, welcoming and really wants you to have a good time.
I spoke to many people at the luau and many guests said they return to watch Fia Fia every year. I completely understand why.
The Fia Fia Luau is at Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach club every Tuesday night. The show sells out most Tuesdays so it’s best to purchase your tickets in advance from the concierge. During busy travel times (like Spring Break and summer) Fia Fia has an additional show on Thursday nights.
If you are planning for just one special event while on Oahu I highly recommend going to Fia Fia at Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club.
This post and pics brings back memories of our first Hawaii trip about nine years ago when the kids were 4 and 5. We did not attend the luau but did meat the Chief. We are going back in June and won’t miss it this time! Aloha
