My kids and I have been singing and dancing to Meghan Trainor’s new song “All about that Bass” this last week. In fact, it’s become our anthem.
We’ve been hearing it on the radio and have been playing the video on our computer and on our TV constantly.
This song makes us happy. Makes us feel good. We love it.
We often hear sad, serious songs reminding us to love ourselves and accept ourselves. For example, the Christina Aguilera song “Beautiful” and the latest Colbie Caillat song “Try”. These songs are great, have an important message but they don’t make me feel even close to how I feel when I hear “All About that Bass”.
As a mom of two, I want my kids to feel happy and proud of what they look like. I don’t want them comparing themselves to models in magazines or other kids. I want them to wear what they want, style their hair how they want and just be happy.
This is why we’ve been playing Meghan Trainor’s song constantly in our house. We cheer when it comes on on the radio, we dance ,we lip sinc, we have fun when we hear it.
I’m so happy when I hear Meghan’s words in this song.
No one needs to be a size two.
No young girl should worry about their size.
This song is empowering. It has an important message. It has to be heard.
So moms, girls, kids, play this song and play it loud. Because every inch of you is perfect. From the bottom to the top.
