Dippity-Do Girls with Curls Hair Products #review

I am a serial straightener – yes, I have curly hair and have since, well, puberty… problem is that I’ve never really learned what to do with my curly hair, so instead I choose to be a slave to my straightener.  Dippity-Do (remember that brand from when you were a kid?) has come out with a new line of hair products for “Girls with Curls”.

Right off the bat, I notice the cool packaging – it’s bubblegum pink and has a throwback feel.  Even the font they used is fun, girly and curly.  I’m always happy to try new hair products for curly hair, especially because, as I mentioned, I don’t know what to do with my curls… I’m always hoping that a product one day proves to be that miracle product and all of a sudden I have awesome curly hair that I’m not embarrassed to go out in public in.  Question for our curly-haired readers: what are some of your tips for styling curly hair?

Today, I tried the Girls with Curls Curl Shampoo and Conditioner and the Curl Defining Cream.  I also received the Girls with Curls Deep Treatment and the Gelee (more commonly known as “gel” but I love that they gave this product a French name, makes it sound so high end!).

I loved the shampoo and conditioner – it felt different from my regular shampoo and conditioner – I can’t quite put my finger on it, but especially when I rinsed my hair, I felt like it was coated with extra moisture, which everyone that has curly hair knows is key for nice curls.  The scent of the shampoo and conditioner was fresh and fun.  I then towel dried my hair and used the Curl Defining Cream.  I was prepared the diffuse my hair too but after applying the defining cream, I decided to see what would happen if I let my hair air-dry.  I had to use quite a bit of the defining cream, but that’s pretty normal when you have curls… you need lots of product to tame your mane!  The cream worked great, it definitely helped me define my curls and it worked great on my split ends – it smoothed things out just right.  Now that my hair has completely dried, it’s given me smooth, soft, touchable, non-crunchy curls (not a fan of the curl crunch!) so this product is a good one for me.  I then tried the Gelee on a few strands just to test it out.  Surprisingly it didn’t go crunchy as expected cause it is a gel after all.  I liked this product as well and could definitely see myself using to further smooth out my strands. My husband even commented on my hair when he got home from work today, so that’s definitely a good thing!

best books of 2020

I still have the  Girls with Curls Deep Treatment to try but based on the other products, I’m sure I’ll love it as well.  I would definitely recommend this line to my curly-haired friends.

Dippity-Do Girls with Curls is available starting in March 2014 at select retail outlets across Canada. Each product in the collection has a suggested retail price of $6.99.

  1. I just bought this. Super excited to try. I was thrown off because it was from dippity do lol. I won’t ever forget that greasy gel haha. I used it as a kid cause I have curly hair too. ♡ I hope this helps and also a tip I learned. Less frizz curls. Towel dry with not a towel but a cotton shirt. Trust me. Less frizz ! Thank you for this.
