My daughter and I have a new favourite game for her DS – Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.
We downloaded this game a few weeks ago and have been hooked ever since.
{About Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer}
In Happy Home Designer you are a home decorator. To begin the game you customize your character. You can choose your skin tone, hair style, eye colour and more. Once this is done you can start the game!
The game starts with you accepting a job at Nook’s Homes. Once you accept the job you are shown how to decorate a room and begin getting new customers. You will soon see new furniture popping up and be very busy making your customers happy. Unlike other similar games you do not need to spend money when decorating a room. You have unlimited funds to make every room look it’s absolute best.
We have really enjoyed choosing carpet, wall colours and furniture for each home we have designed in New Town.
{Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Amiibo cards}
Since we have a 2DS our gaming system cannot read amiibo cards. That’s not a problem though! Nintendo has a handy Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader/Writer Accessory that works easily with a 2DS. Simply pop the batteries in your NFC card reader and scan your desired card.
To use the amiibo card you need to find the phone in Nook’s Homes. The player uses the phone to call the character on the amiibo card and can ask to remodel their home, you can also invite these characters to other peoples homes. We’ve had a lot of fun playing with new characters and designing the perfect home for them.
{What we like most about Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer}
- We love decorating new homes
- It’s very straightforward and fun to play
- New challenges pop up all the time (sometimes your client does not like what you’ve done with their house…)
- It’s very appropriate for young kids
My daughter has already designed over 30 homes, restaurants, schools and more in our town. This game is fun and addicting. I think this is a great game for kids aged 7 and up.
{Where to Buy}

I love how far games have come since I was a kid. I still remember when the original hand held games came out!
Awh, that’s really cute! Never knew of the Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader/Writer Accessory before, will have to check that out next time I’m at Toys R Us!
I can see my youngest loving this game! She will be getting a DS soon
This game looks super cute! Definitely something my kiddos would be interested in.
This looks like a really fun game thanks!
