Beautiful Nursery with Style Me Modern Baby Bedding #review #giveaway

A few weeks ago, my sister Ladena announced that I would be joining the MyBabyStuff.ca MamaBlog as a guest blogger because I was expecting my first baby.  Since Ladena’s kids are a little older now, it only made sense for me to start reviewing and blogging about baby items. I had my little girl on August 20th and have a few things in the hopper to review.

As my introductory blog, I’m reviewing the bedding that I had made for my baby.  I searched and searched online for bedding, and although I did find a few ok options, none of the options were exactly what I was looking for.  My sister suggested that I contact a local Victoria B.C. company, run by two lovely ladies –  Alesha and Leslie – that specialize in beautiful modern bedding for babies and toddlers – Style Me Modern.  I thought that was a great idea!

My experience with Style Me Modern was fantastic from the first point of contact to the delivery of the bedding.  The process goes a little something like this:

• They ask you some prelim questions about what you’re looking for, what you want for the bedding, what pieces you want (crib sheet, crib skirt, bumper, etc…), they then go out and look for fabric and pattern options based on your initial convo.
• You then go back and forth with them via email with different pattern storyboards.  I gotta say – I was very appreciative of their patience!  I don’t know how many times I changed my mind, mixed and matched other patterns, and made other suggestions of patterns I’d seen elsewhere that I liked… they were always open and happy to work with what I was thinking.
• Once you’ve found the fabrics and pattern combinations that you like, they get to work!  They order the material and start creating your custom bedding for your baby or toddler.

The orders can take a few weeks as they’re quite busy, but it is WELL worth the wait in the end.  The fabrics are quality and you’ve got bedding that is truly unique to you, your tastes and in my case, to my new little one that was about to arrive.

I had a crib sheet, crib skirt and curtains made.  The curtains are probably my favourite.  I absolutely love the pattern and I think it really finishes off the room. I asked if it was possible to use some kind of blackout material on the back side of the curtains and they were able to find some material that wouldn’t compromise the look of the curtain and still provide some darkness in the room. They’re perfect!

The fitted mattress sheet is soft and again, the pattern is fantastic.  I love the crib skirt with it’s sleek lines and finish.  Overall, I think the room looks simple but complete and just girly enough, which is exactly what I was going for!

I highly recommend working with Style Me Modern for your baby or toddler’s bedding.  You won’t be disappointed.  I plan on going back for more, either for my future children or for when my little girl grows up and graduates to a big girl bed.
