I just returned from a family holiday at the Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club on Oahu in Hawaii.
While I was there this year I was lucky enough to attend the grand opening of clubTHRIVESM at this Marriott Vacation Club resort.
{About clubTHRIVESM}
clubTHRIVESM is a program now found at all Marriott Vacation Clubs. It is free of charge when staying at the resort. The Marriott Vacation Club designed this program because their owners and guests asked for it. With this program guests know what to expect when travelling and can continue to participate in fitness activities that they appreciate and enjoy.
clubTHRIVESM is led by an in-house fitness team and offers great programs for all fitness levels. The clubTHRIVESM program focusses on four main areas: refuel, renew, move and explore.
The grand opening at Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club included these events:
1 – Explore: discoverNATURE walk
2 – Move: freshAIR Fitness
3 – Move: aquaFIT class
4 – Refuel: Healthy Food Booth
5 – Renew: reNEW class
6 – clubTHRIVESM Run/Walk
The grand opening event started with a ceremonial conch shell ceremony then continued with a discoverNATURE walk led by a wonderful and knowledgable instructor.
Those who participated in the grand opening received an activity card and received a sticker after every workout completed. At the end of the day each participant was eligible to win prizes.

I joined the large group as we walked – in silence – from one lagoon to the other. At every stop the instructor led us in stretches and explained local Hawaiian trees, flowers and wildlife. This was such a wonderful way to start the day. I loved doing this walk in silence, it made me concentrate more on the scenery, on the nature around me and really allowed me to clear my mind. I have to say that I felt it was 100% “me” time. I had no distractions, I concentrated on myself, the beauty around me and starting the day on a positive note.

Later in the day I participated in the aquaFIT class led by Meme. This was a high energy class held in a lap pool at the resort. All resort instructors we leading us in the workout. They were encouraging and made the workout so much fun. The large group in the pool encouraged each other and had a great time.
I felt so honoured to participate in the opening ceremony of clubTHRIVESM at the Marriott’s Ko Olina resort on Oahu. I truly look forward to taking part in more clubTHRIVESM fitness classes at this resort and at other Marriott Vacation Club resorts when traveling.
With clubTHRIVESM I know that I have access to a quality fitness program when traveling. I appreciate this “me” time and value the consistency of the program.

I’d love to know, do you continue regular exercise when travelling?
I like the idea of a discover NATURE walk, I’m not into group activities really but that would interest me especially with someone who could explain different things along the way 🙂
wow! this is an amazing bonus for a hotel stay. sometimes you want to get in a little fitness, but hanging out in the hotel gym is such a drag!
This sounds like a great hotel perk!! The scenery is beautiful at the classes!
Sounds like a really great way to stay active while on vacation! I love that it is free with your stay!
Very neat. I would love to go to Hawaii. One day.
What a great idea! Looks like you had a great time.
What a fabulous idea. I hate going on vacation and gaining tons of weight because I feel horrible. This would help me stay motivated.
This sound like a lot more fun than forcing myself to go to the boring gym on vacation. I would so do this!
This is awesome! For those who stay active in their daily lives, going on vacation can put a dent in their activeness. Being able to stay active while on vacation will definitely prevent the hardships of getting back into a regular active routine once vacation is over.
What a great way to stay on track with your exercise program while traveling instead of foregoing exercise and getting off track. Looks like fun!
What a great idea. Rarely do I exercise on Vacation but after seeing how fun and beautiful a Clubthrive vacation can be. I totally need to rethink fun in the sun. 🙂
such a great idea for people who don’t want to throw all their hard work at keeping fit out the window. Because once you fall out of routine it’s so hard to get back into it. We gained a lot of weight back when we were in Jamaica last year lol
What a great way to stay active during vacation. I need to check it out
Love it! Jay and I do our own little impromptu walk tours wherever we vacay, but it would be fab to have a discoverNATURE walk all set up for you! The whole silence thing is really interesting as well. When we walk, we’re always talking a mile a minute, but its usually about our surroundings; like an appreciation for a garden we’ve passed by, or a restaurant that sounds awesome to try. Am intrigued to try the silent treatment next time, lol!
I *miss* swimming, and would be all over aquaFIT everyday probably. It would be hilarious to Jay if I started going to a lap pool (to actually do laps,) while on vacay and not find a place to continue it at home, (and I’ve looked, there’s just nothing in the area here. #sadpanda)
Sounds like you had a FAB time at clubTHRIVESM at the Marriott’s Ko Olina resort! Thanks for the heads up on the Marriott Vacation Club resorts. We’ve always “made” our own vacations, but are really curious to try it the other way by going to a resort next time. I’ll have to keep Marriott in mind and see if they’re located at our next destination! <3
The silent discoverNATURE walk was so nice Aeryn Lynne. It really started my day on the right foot. 😉
You have to check out Marriott Vacation Clubs. The properties I have vacationed at are so relaxing and have something for everyone. The Marriott Ko Olina Beach club is my happy place.
I hardly ever workout when I travel, but something like this would totally motivate me. I love the idea of this.
This sounds great! I totally need this to counteract the rest of my scarfing and laying around when I go on a vacation. =D
