So, it’s probably the wrong time of year for these two cookbooks, but I still couldn’t say no to reviewing them. The thing for me is whether it’s summer, fall, winter or spring, I still love a scrumptious soup, a delicious chili, and many more of the dishes found in these books.
What I love about The Slow Cook Book:
- The recipes include instructions for slow cookers and regular ovens
- The Techniques section (like a mini cooking school) and the Recipe Chooser (a little assistance in choosing which recipe you should choose tonight)
- The recipes are explained clearly and are easy to follow
What I love about the Soup cookbook:
- Also has a great Techniques section
- The Recipe Planner section – vegetarian, healthy, spicy and main meals for example – I like this cause it helps you decide what kind of soup to make
- The recipes are then broken down by winter vegetables, legumes and nuts, fish and shellfish, poultry, game and meat, fruit (yes fruit!), cheese, and breads. I like this list… a lot.
I plan on making the Jamaican Corn Stew from the Slow Cook Book and I want to try several different soups from the Soup cookbook including the Wild Garlic Soup, the Sopa De Tortilla and the Curried Broth with Peppers.
