My family just returned from a wonderful holiday in Banff National Park.
While there, our goal was to spend a lot of time outdoors and to enjoy easy hiking trails and views that the Rocky Mountains offer. One thing that I wanted to experience with my family was the Lake Louise Summer Gondola.
Disclosure: Lake Louise Ski Resort offered my family complimentary tickets to enjoy the summer gondola. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
About Lake Louise Ski Resort
Lake Louise is a ski resort located about 40 minutes from the town of Banff. In the winter it has incredible terrain for skiers and snowboarders.
In the summer, you can access their gondola and chairlifts to bring you to mid mountain to take in views, do a bit of hiking, enjoy lunch and visit their Wildlife Interpretive Centre.
The Lake Louise Summer Gondola
The Lake Louise Summer Gondola is a great activity for all ages.
You summer gondola experience includes free parking at the resort. Riders can choose to take the gondola or a chairlift 2101m (6893 ft) up the mountain. Once on top, you’ll find an observation deck, easy hiking trails, beautiful scenery and more.
The Wildlife Interpretive Centre is a fun place to learn more about animals, flowers and plants found in Banff National Park.
There are many dining options when visiting in the summer. You can eat on the mountain at the Whitehorn Bistro or eat near the lodge at Banded Peak Base Camp.
Your Lake Louise gondola ticket also includes a free shuttle to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The shuttle bus drops you off at Lake Louise where you can enjoy easy hikes, rent canoes and more.
Our Experience
My family really enjoyed our Lake Louise experience. We opted to ride the chairlift up (we really enjoyed a nice breeze on our way up).
Once on the mountain I loved seeing all the wildflowers and views. My kids spent a lot of time in the Wildlife Interpretive Centre. It was great to have Parks Canada experts on site to answer any of our questions (mostly about bears!!).
Once we were done on the mountain with had a delicious BBQ lunch at Banded Peak Base Camp and then hoped onto the shuttle to check out Lake Louise.
I really enjoyed how relaxing our day at Lake Louise was. It was a great level of activity for our kids. We got to check off seeing some beautiful views and the iconic Lake Louise.
Get your Tickets
The Lake Louise Summer Gondola runs until September 19, 2021. You can purchase your tickets in advance online or in person.

Lake Louise is just STUNNING isn’t it?
What an incredible time you had! I am just so excited for when we can make our way to Lake Louise!
We did the summer gondola at Banff years ago and we’ve taken the gondola at Grouse Mountain here too. I’m looking forward to taking our kids on a road trip to Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise one of these days.
Banff is on my travel wish list, but I really really want to go during the holiday season.
The gondola ride looks fun. I am glad that it is fully enclosed.
Oh, wow! lake Louise is so pretty! I have never been on a gondola during the warm months like that. Everything about that place looks perfect for my family.
Looks like fun! We love the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish. Would love to try the one at Lake Louise!
Looks like a fabulous adventure!! I don’t think I’ve ever had the opportunity to ride a gondola before!
