Get Your Kids Talking with Games from SuperDuper Publications! #review #giveaway

My daughter loves games. She loves setting them up, following the rules (very important) and winning!! I was so looking forward to trying out two new games with her from Super Duper Publications.

We’ve been lucky enough to try many Super Duper Publications games. In our experience we find their games are fabulous. They get kids engaged and get them thinking. The two new games we got to test out are called Pirate Talk and Gumballs.

{Pirate Talk}

We started with Pirate Talk.  My daughter loved this game as soon as it was set up. She was immediately drawn to the gold coins, the fun looking game board and the really cool electronic spinner.

This game gets my daughter talking! It covers so many communication skills including:

  • Sentence Repetition
  • Answering Questions
  • Following Directions
  • Categorizing
  • Inferencing
  • Describing
  • Social Skills

Pirate Talk comes with 150 large language cards. Each card has wonderful illustrations on one side and a set of questions on the back. One player asks the questions and the other player uses the illustration on the card to answer the questions. Each card has a Receptive and Expressive section. In the Receptive section the three types of questions are: repeat, question, following directions. The Expressive section deals with categorization, inferencing, description and social skills.  Once questions are answered correctly the player gets to move and collect coins! Very exciting for little ones!

I really love how this game gets my daughter talking. She’s always been quite the talker but I find that these questions get her thinking on a different level. I also like that I’m exploring the illustrations with her. Together we can find lots of details and say a lot about each card.

My 3 year old son often joins us when we’re playing. I was impressed that I can get him to participate in this game. He can easily answer the “Following Directions” questions by pointing to the items the card is asking.

{Grammar Gumballs}

Grammar Gumballs is a game that also gets my daughter talking and learning all about grammar! It also has a super fun set up – a gumball machine filled with foam gum balls! How fun!

Grammar Gumballs comes with 180 cards that teach you about verbs, nouns, pronouns and more. It also comes with a 64 page lesson and workbook and CD-ROM.

Once the game is set up you decide what you’d like to work on. You select a card from the pile then you turn to the correct section of the lesson book and start going over the card and asking questions. Children or students receive gum balls every time they answer something right.

My daughter loves picking out gum balls and adding to her pile. Her gum ball pile grows pretty quickly. This is a great game because it teaches so many important grammar skills. My daughter doesn’t even know she is learning anything. She thinks she’s just hanging out with mom.

Both games are great to play at home with your children or at school. As a school teacher I can see my students really loving these games! I can see Grammar Gumballs being a great game to play with many students including ESL students.

You can purchase both Pirate Talk and Grammar Gumballs on the Super Duper Publications website. Super Duper Publications will ship any order over $20 for FREE to Canada and the US.

  1. I would like to get the “Can-Do” Oral-Motor Game Board for my daughter who is currently in speech therapy.

  2. I love educational toys and games, and these look great! I read over some of the questions on the cards, and I love the “receptive” category that has children repeat the sentence. Clever!

  3. I love the looks of that pirate game board, but I think I would buy the magnefoam magnets from the OT section!
