Ready for Spring Break? Tips for Finding a Perfect Resort for Your Family! #familytravel

My family loves to travel. We save up all year and always take a trip during Spring Break. We’ve taken our kids to Toronto, Ottawa, New York, Mexico and Hawaii. We love adventure but also love relaxing.

Here are some tips for finding a perfect family resort for your family this Spring Break.

{Location}

Look for a resort that:

  • is in a safe location
  • is close to the beach, parks and activities. You don’t want to spend your entire vacation in a car.
  • is close to family friendly restaurants
  • has stroller friendly paths (we have had to take many 2am walks with our son, thankfully we’ve mostly stayed at resorts with beautiful walking paths)
  • has a kids pool area (so you aren’t constantly worried that your little ones will splash adult guests)

Things to consider:

  • Does the resort have a shuttle?
  • Does it have a great pool and hot tubs? (for both you and the kids!)
  • Does it have a kid’s club or babysitting service?
  • Does your resort offer BBQs for guests to use?
  • Do they have a games room and movie rentals available?
  • Are there restaurants and stores on the property?
  • Does it have a gym?

What I look for:

  • Condo style is the way to go when traveling as a family.
  • Does your suite have a full kitchen?
  • Does it have a great indoor play space for your kids (it can rain on holidays… being stuck in a small hotel room sucks)
  • Big balconies are sooooo important. They are a great space to take in the views and sit with a glass of wine once the kids are sleeping.

Best places to learn more about a resort:

  • TripAdvisor is my go-to site for hotel reviews.
  • TripAdvisor forums. Ask a question and someone will answer! The forums on TripAdvisor are amazing. So many experts waiting to answer your questions.
  • Blog reviews. I’ve started making lists of places I’d like to bring my family to by reading many great blog reviews.

We love traveling with our kids and plan on continuing to do so until they don’t want to travel with us anymore!

When we travel we really appreciate being close to the beach. We have found that dragging all our beach toys, towels and cooler is just not for us. One of us always forgets something so it’s nice to stay close to the resort so one of us can run up and get what we forgot.

We love resorts with more than one pool. Our kids love the beach but the pools are also very important. When we stay somewhere with more than one pool it gives us all something to look forward to. We usually do one day at one pool and one day at another.

There’s still time to find a great destination and resort for Spring Break travel.
