My family loves this dish. It’s tasty and so easy to make.

Here’s my take on Chicken with a Chinese accent.

Chicken with a Chinese Accent

{What You need}

  • 6 – 8 chicken thighs
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 can cream of mushroom or cream of chicken
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 onion finely chopped

{Make it}

1) Combine oil & soy sauce, fry chicken in it for approx 3 minutes, turning several times.

2) Transfer chicken to a medium oven safe dish.

3) Combine remaining ingredients, stir in remaining soy sauce mixture from pan, pour over chicken.

4) Bake 350F for 35 minutes.

This is the perfect weeknight meal. It doesn’t require many ingredients and makes AWESOME left overs!

I usually serve the chicken on rice with a side of carrots or broccoli.

I also use this recipe to use up leftover roast beef but sauce onions and mushrooms in oil then add cream of mushroom soup, soy sauce and brown sugar and throw in chopped up roast beef and simmer for 10 to 15 min while I prepare with rice or mashed potatoes to serve this over. It is easy and delicious. I originally got this recipe 40 yrs ago when I was in 4H but it was made with boneless chicken breasts, my mom came up with using roast beef instead and I actually like it better. You can use think slices or raw sirloin or such or even pork but just have to cook it first as you would raw chicken.
