Every Spring Break my husband and I take the kids on holidays. This year, we took the family to the Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club in Kapolei, Hawaii on the island of Oahu.
Ko Olina is a quiet resort town about 18 miles from the Honolulu airport. The Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club seemed perfect for our family trip – it’s a ways away from busy Waikiki (but not so far that you can’t go for a fun day trip), it’s located on beautiful and calm lagoon beaches, it has great pool options, and offers large villas – perfect for family vacations!
During our visit, so many things stood out to me and my family. We were most impressed with the property, amenities, the activities offered and the staff.
The Property and Amenities
From the minute you walk in the lobby you know you are in a special place.
The Marriott Ko Olina Beach club is set on one of the four man-made lagoons in Ko Olina, Hawaii. The property offers three large pools (two family pools and one adult-oriented quiet pool) and seven hot tubs. The vegetation on the property is lush, with hundreds of coconut trees, tropical plants and flowers throughout the grounds. There are two restaurants on site (Longboards and Chuck’s), one bar and a small market. There are also three BBQ areas for guest use.
The Marriott Ko Olina has two gyms, steam rooms and saunas. The Spa by the Sea at Ko Olina has an impressing spa menu and my sister and I were treated to a massage in one of the outdoor huts – an experience I would highly recommend to any mom or dad! There is also a small playground for little ones to enjoy.
The grounds of the resort are extremely clean.
Accessing any of the lagoons is super easy thanks to a beautiful path that connects all the accommodation options and the lagoons at Ko Olina. Our family took several walks up and down the paths and my sister, husband and I often went for our morning runs along the path as well. Doesn’t get much better than that!
Activities for All
The Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club has thought of everyone with their huge list of on-site activities. You receive a list of the week’s activities when you check in. You can also see the list of daily activities posted in all elevators and at the pool huts. Many of the activities are free of charge for guests of the resort.
Little ones can enjoy activities such as Hula lessons, Tamika Race Car building and games on the lawn led by great Keiki Activity Club staff. Our favourite activity was meeting and swimming with Mermaid Kariel. Mermaid Kariel visits the resort twice a week, she interacts with the children, reads them a book and swims with them in the Nai’a pool.
Tweens will love activities like ukulele lessons, hip hop dance lessons and fun night time activities like Pool-A-Palooza lead by Angel, one of the best activities guys on site.
Ko Olina also has great activities for adults. Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments are held every week, golf clinics and many fitness activities such as Yoga, Calisthenics and power walks.
Movie nights are also held two times per week on the great lawn. Sadly for us, the weather wasn’t co-operating the night of the kids movie. The staff re-scheduled the movie in the games room and my family had a great time.
One thing I noticed right away at the Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club is how friendly and hard working the staff is. Every single person working at the resort greets you with an Aloha. I found that every staff member I came across made sure my family and I were having a good time. It shows that they know that most guests come a long way to arrive to the Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club and they want to make sure you are comfortable, are having fun and happy.
It’s really easy to relax and enjoy family time at the Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club. The pools, the lagoon and the grounds are the most perfect place to spend time with your family.
